Lettering

LETTERING

LETTERING is a personal project with the intention of simply “making” something.

The project combined the research methods from industrial design and an industrial aesthetic with digital and traditional jewelry craft. The rings are cast in 100% 925 silver, and can be ordered with any letter of the alphabet.

The second aspect of the project is developing a registered business in Norway, sourcing production, developing marketing strategies establishing a web-shop and handling packaging and shipping.

A project designed to investigate manufacturing, with a goal of producing a one-part product, in a single material. The scale of jewellery made it an excellent product to develop and work on technically and financially. The rings were sold in a web-shop set up for the project.

Process & Manufacturing

Using a local jewellery-producer, I got valuable manufacturing-feedback throughout the process and in-person insight of the production-facilities.

The rings were modelled in Solidoworks, printed in wax, lost-wax cast and finished for inspection. Translating the designs from Solidworks into silver required a rigorous attention to detail spanning over 40 iterations evaluating typography, thicknesses, detailing and various finishes.

Silicone moulds were produced to support scaling production.
